W.W.I. Fighter Aircraft

The U.S. aircraft industry was practically non-existent when the U.S. entered the war in April of 1917.
A handful of obsolete aircraft saw limited service primarily being used as trainers. U.S. pilots saw action in aircraft manufactured in France and Great Britain.

Not all of the aircraft listed below were flown by U.S. pilots but are listed here for historic interests.

Sopwith Camel
Sopwith Pup
Sopwith Snipe
Sopwith Triplane
Nieuport 17
